I’ve joined the Hutong School in Beijing and Shanghai two times already – and every time it was a great and wonderful experience. The accommodation is quite okay. The people at the Hutong School are very nice and helpful in every way. The teachers are very motivated and well prepared. And the School offers a lot of fun free-time activities. The “Hutong-School-weeks” were one of my best in my live – and I can recommend it in every way. You not only learn a lot – you also meet a lot of new friends.

From arriving in Shanghai with no real clue what to expect, I left with a much broader sense of how Chinese culture and business operates in the modern world. I’m especially thankful to all those I worked alongside for contributing to my enrichment as well as the teaching staff who offered a fun, lively and interactive learning environment! …

What separates Hutong School from all the other schools is the staff: everyone is nice, welcoming and engaged. The classes are very involved, and the group environment serves well for practicing speaking. After a few months, I was speaking Chinese well enough to be hired in a full time management position in Shanghai.

A great organization that takes good care of you. From day one I was met with open arms by the Hutong School staff, which made the transition easy. They provided an important social structure and offered plenty of social events throughout my stay. Whether you’re an experienced traveller, or spending your first time abroad, Hutong School provides the much needed comfort, and administrative support, that helps you to solely focus on your stay abroad. My stay in Shanghai left me as a more experienced employee, and most importantly a happier person.

Hutong School set me up with a nice flat in the centre of Beijing, taught me loads during class and led interesting cultural activities after class. The greatest thing was the flexibility to determine your own experience while also being provided the opportunity to experience as much as possible at every turn.

China is a fascinating country, it is full of opportunities and Hutong School helped me to explore them. The Chinese lessons in the morning, right before my internship, were a great help because I felt more confident when I had to talk to people. Hutong School is always there when you need them!

I couldn’t expect to have such a great and profitable experience. My job training was very helpful to accumulate new skills and to have a real viewpoint of a future occupation.

I spent my vacations in Hutong School and that was the best decision I have ever made! I had been studying Chinese for the past year and I realized that taking classes in Hutong is definitely a different quality. The best teachers, methods and cultural activities anyone can find. I was able to skip one level when I went back to my country and I am looking forward to visiting Hutong School’s other locations!

Coming from the USA, I was extremely scared and cautious when looking into internships in China. Finding Hutong School was truly a blessing. Not only did they care for my every need, but they opened my eyes to a new world while still allowing me to feel safe and comfortable. There is no possible way I could have done it without them!

I had studied Chinese on my own for about a year before I went to Hutong School. Having class for 4h/day made my Chinese level improve right away while still leaving me time for hanging out with the other students and exploring Beijing. I went back the year after so I guess that gives a pretty good impression of how satisfied I have been with the Intensive Chinese Program!

I particularly appreciated the dedication and patience of the teachers (I’m more than 70 years old, it was not so easy to get vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation into my old brain) and the time the administratives spent to help us for accommodation, planning, etc. Hutong School “boosted” me to pass HSK 3 at 74 years old!

Hutong School gave me the opportunity to combine my internship in Shanghai together with studying Mandarin in the evenings. Classes are small (4 people), which means the teacher has the ability to give special attention to each individual and you practice a lot. Plus, cultural activities and trips gave me the chance to travel!

The staff at Hutong School were incredibly helpful and flexible in organizing my study schedule. I took some one-on-one classes as well as the group lessons and thoroughly enjoyed all of them. My teachers were so kind and patient, but at the same time they really challenged me to work as hard as I could.

I completed a 3-month intensive language course, which greatly improved my Chinese language capability. I appreciate the opportunity to have experienced the Chinese culture first-hand, as well as, the opportunity to make lifelong friendships with my classmates, teachers and the staff. Hutong School provided me with a safe and comfortable residence in which to stay. The staff was always willing and happy to help me with anything that I needed.
