On Sunday we are organising a trip to a wuguan, or Kwoon. A Wuguan is a training
hall for Chinese martial arts. It is also commonly known by the Japanese word Dojo. Chinese martial arts, known collectively as Wushu, have been developed over many centuries. Types are often separated
by characteristics, such as physical exercises involving animal mimicry, or training methods inspired by Chinese philosophies, religions and legends.
We have been invited by a kungfu instructor to take a tour of his wuguan in the south of Beijing. There, he teaches a few different types of kungfu, the most prominent being Shaolin Kungfu. We will be going to watch training sessions, take a tour of the facilities and practice some wushu.
Meeting Place: Liujiayao (line 5) station outside exit C (South East exit)
From there we will take a taxi to the wuguan.
Time: 9:30am-12:30pm Sunday, May 8th
Come and join us and experience how Kungfu is taught in Beijing!
