What started off as an idea by six young entrepreneurs, grew out to become one of the leading Chinese language schools and internship providers in Beijing and Shanghai!
Hutong School was founded in April 2005 by young Belgian, French, German, Chinese and Korean entrepreneurs.
As foreign students themselves, they had faced some difficulties in finding an internship placement and arranging their accommodation in Beijing. That’s why they joined together and created Hutong School, the first location of which was in a 2-story apartment building in Jiaodaokou.
Hutong School’s main goal back then was and is still now to provide foreign students and professionals a unique package, consisting of accommodation, Chinese classes in China and an internship placement in a foreign company.
2005: founding of Hutong School
2006: moved into a courtyard in Jiugulou Dajie
January 2011: opening of a 2nd branch in Sanlitun, Beijing's business center. Hutong School Beijing is presently still located there.
February 2012: opening of first branch in Shanghai at the border of the Former French Concession and Jing'an
June 2012: acquisition of Internship Network Asia and further expansion of Hutong School's reach as an internship provider
