Capitant Belgium, a student organization with focus on the financial markets, and Hutong School, a leading provider of Chinese classes and internships in Beijing and Shanghai, have joined forces to create a unique program aimed at students and young professionals with a background in finance and a strong interest in China. Together, we offer a program combining Chinese language and culture immersion in Beijing and a financial internship in Shanghai, along with a great diversity of business lectures, networking events, excursions into the heartland of China and much more.
Program Content
Part I: Chinese Language and Culture Immersion in Beijing (3 months)
The first part of the program is aimed at giving participants a deeper understanding of the Chinese culture through a wide range of activities, as well as a basic conversational level in Chinese. The following services are offered:
- Chinese classes: 20 hours/week in small groups with a focus on oral Chinese and character recognition
- Cultural activities: an average of 3 activities/week showing the diversity of the Chinese culture
- Excursions in and around Beijing, covering both famous sites such as the Great Wall, as well as hidden gems off the beaten track such as Cuandixia (expenses for transport, tickets and overnight stays not included)
- Weekly networking nights with Chinese and international young professionals from various sectors
- Business lectures covering a variety of topics related to doing business in China
- Accommodation in single bedrooms in shared apartments in the center of Beijing
- 24/7 Practical assistance throughout your stay
Part II: Financial Internship in Shanghai (3 months)
The second part of the program brings the participants to the economic engine and financial heart of China: Shanghai! Through an internship in the financial sector or in a financial function in a different sector, participants get the chance to acquire valuable professional experience and gain insights into the Chinese economic miracle. This second part includes the following services:
- Financial internship in an international company in Shanghai (financial sector or financial function)
- Chinese classes: 6h/week in small groups, building further on the foundations laid during part I and with a focus on Chinese in a business context
- Cultural activities: an average of 3 activities/week showing the diversity of the Chinese culture
- Excursions in and around Shanghai and surrounding cities and towns (expenses for transport, tickets and overnight stays not included)
- Weekly networking nights with Chinese and international young professionals from various sectors
- Business lectures covering a variety of topics related to doing business in China
- Accommodation in single bedrooms in shared apartments in the center of Shanghai
- 24/7 Practical assistance throughout the stay
