Shuangsi Neighborhood committee is a social council in the district our school is located in. This committee organizes sports activities and competitions in order to allow fellow neighbors to get to know each other while doing sports and having fun. The Hutong School has arranged a unique opportunity for our students to take part in these activities so they can have the chance to interact with Chinese people, and hopefully also make some Chinese friends. We hope you will be able to join in on the fun next Saturday!

Below is a description of the games students will be able to join.

1. Balance ball: the group is divided into teams. Half of each team is placed on either side of the playground. One person from each team starts the game by carrying a ball supported by two sticks held on either hand. He/she must cross the playground in this way and hand over the ball to a player on the opposite side. As players proceed, time is recorded separately for each team. If a team drops the ball, the time will be stopped and started again from zero. The team with the longest time at the end of the game is the winner.

2. Basketball bowling: each player must stand 4 meters from an aligned set of bottles. Holding a basketball, he/she must roll the ball against the bottles in order to topple them over. Each player has 3 chances to knock down as many bottles as possible and gain the most points. The player with the highest number of points is the winner.

3. Tug of War: there are two teams of 15 people. Each team is placed at the opposite end of a rope. When the match starts, each side must pull the rope with all their might. The team that manages to pull the other team over a line drawn on the floor in the middle is the winner.

4. Crab walk: Two people stand back to back holding a ball between them. They have to walk together sideways until they reach the opposite wall without letting the ball drop. The quickest pair to arrive at the wall without dropping the ball is the winner.

5. Shuttlecock: each team is made of 6 people, 3 women and 3 men. A player from each team kicks the feather ball for 1 minute, passes it on to the next person and so on in a round until all the team’s members have kicked the ball. The round is continued in this way as long as the team can keep the feather ball from dropping. Each team’s total time kicking the ball without dropping it is added together. The team that achieves the longest time wins.

They will all take place at #13 Middle School’s playground, in #59 Xitao Hutong, but we’ll meet at our school's Gulou branch in advance so that we can all head there together.
When: 8:40am, Saturday, December 10th
Meeting place: Hutong School Gulou branch

If you are interested in joining any of these activities, please email us at events@hutongschool.com before December 7th. Each student can join 2 activities at the most.
