I believe that speaking Chinese to my students is the best way to get them used to hearing the language and help them feel comfortable in using it. I also like to combine classroom study with speaking Mandarin in real life situations. With this in mind, I often ask my students, for example, to go to the vegetable market or the shopping mall to use the vocabulary and structures I introduce in class that day—and they love it !
