Tai Chi Class
Originally developed in China as a form of self-defense, tai chi is a graceful form of exercise that has existed for some 2,000 years. Practiced regularly, tai chi can help you reduce stress and enjoy other health benefits. Tai chi, in fact, is often described as "meditation in motion" because it promotes serenity through gentle movements— connecting the mind and body. Along with its physical attributes and benefits, tai chi has an underlying philosophical foundation that embodies the essence of Daoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism.

Anyone, regardless of age or physical ability, can practice Tai Chi. It doesn't take physical prowess, but rather emphasizes technique over strength.

Next Tuesday night, join us to learn some basic forms of Tai chi.

Cooking Class
Jiaozi typically consist of a ground meat and/or vegetable filling wrapped into a thin piece of dough, which is then sealed by pressing the edges together. Jiaozi look like the golden metal ingots called "yuan bao" that were used during the Ming Dynasty as money and the name sounds like the word for the earliest type of paper money, so serving these dumplings is believed to bring prosperity.

Jiaozi are one of the major foods eaten during the Chinese New Year, but they’re eaten all year round and at any time of day – breakfast, lunch or dinner. Every family has their own preferred method of making them, with favorite fillings, and of course, jiaozi types and preparation vary widely according to each region.

Join us next Wednesday and learn how to make your own jiaozi!
