Additional services to make your stay in China more convenient
Besides our main services of Internship placement, Chinese classes, Accommodation, lectures and cultural activities, we offer all Hutong School students a series of additional services, all included in the price:
• Visa Support
All foreigners coming to China need to apply for the correct visa before departure. When doing an internship in China the F visa (also known as Business Visa) is the most appropriate visa to have. To apply for the F visa Hutong School will provide you with an Invitation Letter written and stamped by the company that provides you with the internship. For more information about the Visa, see: Application / Visa
• Airport Pick-up
Upon your arrival there will be a Hutong School staff member at the airport with a sign with your name to make sure you are in good hands from day 1. About 2 weeks before arrival we will send you all the information you need to navigate Beijing airport so that once you step out of the terminal you will spot the Hutong School employee waiting for you.
• Registration in Beijing
All foreigners arriving in Beijing have to do a registration at the local police office within 24 hours after arrival. This may seem like just a formality but is important in the case of later visa extension. A Hutong School employee will escort you to the local police station right after you moved in to your apartment.
• Networking Support
At Hutong School, we encourage students to actively network during their stay in Beijing since getting to know the right people might result in future employment. Therefore we will provide you with:
o A Mobile Phone and phone number : in return for a deposit of 400 RMB which you will get back once you return the mobile phone at the end of your stay.
o Upon request: Name cards which mention your name, mobile phone number and area of expertise.
o The opportunity to participate in the Hutong School forum (which can be found here) and join the Hutong School Facebook community.
• Ticket Booking
Beijing is a great city with loads of interesting sightseeing spots, events and happenings but of course China is more than just Beijing. Therefore Hutong School is always willing to assist you with ticket-booking or even planning short trips to other Chinese cities.
• Medical Assistance
If an emergency occurs there will always be a Hutong School employee on duty to take you to the hospital. Beijing has many good hospitals of which several are known as Foreign Expat Hospitals. There’s also some Chinese Hospitals offering a good service in English. On any trip abroad it is of course important to make sure you have taken out the correct insurance and that you carry the polis number and the hotline of the insurance company with you. (The insurance has to be arranged by the students in their respective home country. The Hutong School can never be liable to any medical charges not covered by the student’s insurance.)
