The Hutong School is located in a beautifully renovated traditional Chinese courtyard in Shuangsi Hutong in central Beijing. You can find us inside the Northern second ring, just 200 meters south of the Gulou metro stop.

The Drum and Bell Towers as well as the picturesque inner lakes of Houhai and Qianhai are within walking distance (5 - 10 minutes) from our school. Even to Beijing’s most famous cultural site, the Forbidden City (Gu Gong), it only takes 10 minutes by bike from the Hutong School.

The Hutong School has a second campus in the 798 Dashanzi Art District in north east Beijing.

How to visit us

By Metro: take the circular line and get off at the Gulou Metro Stop, exit B. Walk about 200 metres south and turn into the Dashiqiao Hutong on your right hand side. You will find us by turning right after about 50 meters and walking until the end of the alley.

By car: take the northern second ring road and go south at the Gulou Bridge (Gulou Qiao). Drive about 200 meters south until you see the ‘Dashiqiao Hutong’ sign on your right and get off there. Walk into the Dashiqiao Hutong, turn right after about 50 meters and walk until the end of the alley.

Walking From the Drum Tower: walk north on Jiu Gulou Dajie for about 5 minutes, past the Drum Tower Youth Hostel and turn into the Dashiqiao Hutong on your left hand side. Turn right after about 50 meters and walk until the end of the alley.
