Networking Skills Workshop
The Workshop
Networking is the process of using and discovering connections between people. Besides formal networking events, continuing education classes, social gatherings and other functions are all prime opportunities to meet new people and further relations with those you would like to know better. At the same time, the ability to network is a skill which can help you in your career development.
Networking has two sides, one is how to expand your contacts; the other is how to connect people. Keeping contacts even when there is no direct gain is important. What is the best way to network? Are you focusing on your goals or just trying to meet people? In order to get rid of networking-related anxiety, one needs practice.
Instead of lecturing, this Networking Skills Workshop will provide you with an interactive learning experience in order to find out why networking matters to you and give you the confidence to develop this key skill.
The Trainer
Jessica Dong works as Chief Financial Officer in Schouten China. She is the co-author of Personal Effectiveness, a book on assertiveness in Chinese; she is also a certified soft-skills trainer specializing in Assertiveness Training.
Jessica studied in a rural area and went to university in Shandong. After graduation in 1997, she continued her study in different areas such as English, finance and education. Her former working experience covers international trade, logistics, purchasing, interpreter and translator, business development and consultancy.
Format
In the workshop, Jessica will make use of experiential learning, in which participants must be actively involved in the experience and be able to reflect on the experience by themselves instead of trainer briefing for them. Much focus will be laid on practicing new behaviour in one’s own personal or work situations.
The 2-hour workshop includes a 10 minute break. At the end of the workshop there will be time for questions and additional networking. The workshop will be accompanied by refreshments in our courtyard.
