Visa for the Beijing 2008 Summer Program

All participants of the Beijing 2008 Summer Program need to enter China on a tourist visa (also known as an L-Visa) for 30 days. The 30 days start counting from your arrival date in China and therefore cover the entire program. Should you wish to stay longer in Beijing after the end of the program, you can extend your visa here in Beijing and we will assist you with this.

Obtainment of the L-Visa is the participants' sole responsibility, but the Hutong School will assist you during the process.

In order to apply for an L-visa, you usually need to submit the following items:

1. Your passport (with validity of at least 6 months).

2. The filled out application form, which you can download and view here.

3. A passport-size picture.

You can send the above documents to the nearest Chinese embassy by registered mail or go there in person. If you send it by mail, make sure to include money and a stamped envelope so that the embassy can send your passport and visa back to you.

NOTE: Not all countries allow application by mail. Especially in small countries you may have to go to the embassy in person or work with a travel agent for visa application.

It usually takes about 5 working days to issue your visa. The cost is usually about 30 euro, but can differ from country to country. At some embassies, it may be possible to obtain next- or same-day services at a surcharge.

IMPORTANT:
Chinese visa regulations might vary slightly according to the location of the embassy and the applicant's nationality. Although we try to keep this page up to date, regulations may change unexpectedly. Always consult your local Chinese Embassy before applying for a visa.
